Matt & Laura Greenwood
She seemed to have a lot of knowledge overall. She did recommend a paint color we used and had many positive remarks on it.
She typically got back to us with quick responses.
We had a hard time agreeing on a listing price. We pushed her to go 6 grand above what she recommended and we ended up getting 11 grand above what she recommended.
As first time home sellers, we needed a lot of help. There were times we were unclear on things and we got many answers that she said it was told to us already or it was in the contract. Those contracts have to be signed so fast, we honestly did not read it word for word or have it memorized.
When we had 2 offers, one of our questions was if either offer was paying the closing costs. She said they both were since they knew there were multiple offers. We took that to mean all closing costs and were surprised to see our closing documents with closing costs. She said she meant they were covering their own, although we didn't realize there was a difference between buyer and seller closing costs. It's in part to our own ignorance in the process, but we don't think it was well explained to us. Everything happened so fast choosing a contract, once it was done, our focus went towards packing and getting inspecitions done. We heard a lot that things were being done behind the scenes, but I think that lead to some of our confusion. I bought the house 10 years ago when I was only 22 so my parents handled a lot of the details. There was a lot that my husband and I didn't understand until we were knee deep in the issues.
I would not recommend her for someone buying or selling for the first time. If it was someone who knew the process and what to expect better, then I think she would be satisfactory.
We would like to say, overall we think Betsy is a very nice woman. She has a lovely heart and we know she didn't intentionally try to confuse us. It may be helpful for others in our situation in the future if there was a checklist of what to expect with bullet points and key things to know. The contract does not work as a useful source. We appreciate the access to Home for Heroes and what they provide. Although, it was just very frustrating getting through everything at the end of the process.
