Born and raised in Los Angeles, John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, with additional emphasis in Marketing, Business Communication, and Business Law, from California State University, Los Angeles. He is a past board member, mentor, and community advisory council member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his daughter, playing golf, reading, gardening, walking and playing with his dog.

I recently closed escrow. The escrow was complicated but had a short timeline. John was very meticulous about letting me know what information was required by the lender and getting all the information organized. He always kept me informed and did his best to meet the sometimes difficult timelines. There were times that I thought the escrow would not work out but with help from John and my agents, things worked out. I'm really grateful!

Wow. My most recent transaction with John May truly exceeded my expectations. John closed a loan in a tight time frame, one that would be unrealistic for most lenders. In a world where lenders often tell you they can do something and then under-deliver or fall short, John made sure he could do what we needed before he made any promises, and he got the job done just as he promised. John's thorough pre-approval and his ability to utilize First Capital's resources ultimately made the difference in my client's getting their offer accepted in a multiple offer situation. We met John at an open house and approached him with some basic questions about getting Pre-Approved for a home loan. We were interested in the house we were seeing but had not even begun the process of getting pre-approved for a loan.

We connected immediately with John because of some common experiences of secondary schools in the area that we all were familiar with; he, because of his daughter; we, because we both work in secondary education. We posed John the hypothetical question of what would need to happen if we wanted to buy that house, and if, given the tight timeframe (they were accepting offers over the next few days only), he could get us pre-approved. John assured us calmly that he could do that.

And, boy, did he deliver! The Pre-Approval letter (which he had done within 24 hours) was only the beginning of what it takes to buy a house. My wife and I were planning on getting married at the end of the month and leaving for our honeymoon shortly thereafter, so, were we to have our offer accepted on the house, we would be looking at just a 25 day escrow period -- typically, it is 30-45 days.

Here again, John worked miracles to get us approved for the loan in, possibly, the tightest time frame he'd ever worked with before. He did what it took though, knew the right people to talk to, knew the stakes, and delivered ON TIME. On top of this, John was extremely responsive to us during this highly stressful time. We were knew to the Home Loan process and nervous. Our questions were many, our fears were high, but John was the right guide for us. I don't think I ever waited longer than 30 minutes to receive an email response back from John. He was at our side every step of the way.

We got the loan, we got the house, and we stand by our trust of John May as a Lender who abides by the highest standards of customer service and competence.
