I was fortunate enough to be referred to Marty Lefton of SVComm Lending by a former client of mine when I had a poor experience with a different, albeit unethical, broker. The previous broker was the absolute polar opposite of Marty and I write this not to bring up the negatives of how another person does business, but to highlight the absolutely positive, significantly rare and quite refreshing way Marty does business. It’s not every day where you will talk to a guy, who talks nearly as fast as you do (I talk really fast), on a Saturday morning (his day off), about your goals, current home purchase plan and the order of unfortunate events that put your distrusting self on the phone in the first place. It’s easy to develop a fear of being taken advantage of when you’re shopping for something you have never shopped for before. It’s easy to feel as though you’re in way over your head. Most of all, it’s easy for Marty to understand the fears and thoughts rolling through your head because he genuinely (not literally) puts himself in his client’s shoes.
After growing up in and moving from apartment to apartment for 25 years, I decided I wanted a little more stability in my residential and financial life. I decided I wanted to be a home owner.
I started planning and saving to accomplish my home-owner goal, by myself, when I was 21 and, when I succeeded, I knew I would be the first in my immediate family to purchase a house all on my own. Independence always has and always will be important to me, but I’m not one to shy away from the assistance from the right people. Marty is one of those right people. He’s honest, sincere, funny and a defender when necessary. As nice and calm as he is with you, the client, he is extremely protective over you as well; he will go to bat for you, even if it’s at his own cost or to his own detriment. He will compliment what you are doing right, and will patiently remind you don’t have to worry about anything else.
I seriously could not recommend a better broker to work with. He went to bat for me and got me, what I now know, is the most absolute best deal I could have ever received for my very first house. He protected me, my money and my time, more than once throughout the escrow process and he explained, patiently, what he was doing and why he was doing it. He even showed up to my close of escrow signing, just to make sure everything I was signing was as it should be.
Marty’s expertise, from what I know, is both commercial and residential real estate and he spent just as much effort, time, energy and patience, if not more, on my residential home purchase as he has on commercial buildings; I know this because of my former client, who is like an uncle to me. Both my “uncle” and I are very picky when it comes to finding “the right people” and Marty could seriously run the “right people” club. Stop reading this review and call him, you’ll have a much better time talking with him than you will reading my testimonial.
