After living in our Thousand Oaks home for 42 years my wife and I felt it was time to consider selling our beautiful home. I began the process one Spring weekend when I stopped by a neighbors “Open House” to determine the selling prices in our neighborhood. I was immediately met by Dore from Aviara Real Estate, and I explained why I was there. She was very understanding and graciously answered my questions. About a week later Dore stopped by with a crate full of items that every seller needs when they sell their home: cleaning supplies, packing foam, tape, plastic wrap, and a brochure full of helpful hints for owners preparing to sell their home.
In a matter of days, we called Dore and made an in-home appointment. Upon arrive she did a walk-through and assured us that our home would sell quickly. She showed us comparisons of recent real estate listings/sales in our area, graciously answered our many questions, and detailed the numerous preparation steps required in listing, showing, and selling our home.
Several days after she meticulously helped us to settle on an asking price, she brought in an associate to help us “declutter” and “stage” our home in preparations for “open house” and for professional pictures to be used in brochures and the realtor multiple listings. We had many neighbors tell us how the pictures made our home look so beautiful and inviting. Once Dore listed our home in the multiple listing, she quickly accessed market conditions. In doing so she was able to limit the number of days our home was open to neighbors, buyers and realtors, and established a deadline to receive all offers.
After accepting one of many offers, Dore opened escrow and then introduced us to Geoff, her business partner who meticulously explained the numerous steps that we needed to complete before the sale and escrow could be finalized. What seemed at first to be an overwhelming process, Geoff was able to walk us through it step by step. He not only kept us abreast of the many city and county provisions that we had to fulfill but provided valuable input along the way.
