In the winter of 2014, after our son was born, my wife Sarah and I began to realize that our growing family would soon outgrow our little house in Irondequoit. We interviewed several realtors but Harlan made our decision easy. He was knowledgeable and confident but what impressed us the most was the lack of pressure he applied. It was the first huge decision for our young family and he assured us that his services would be available when we were ready. He suggested a list of projects and even connected us with an interior designer who helped us ready the home for sale.
Sarah and I talked it over and decided to wait until the following year to sell. However, life had other plans for us and due to professional circumstances found ourselves in the midst of a career change that would take our family from Rochester to the Catskill Mountains. Our year of planning suddenly became a "must sell in a month" situation and Harlan was there for us. Not only did he sell our house in a week, his calmness and availability helped us both logistically and emotionally leave the life we knew for an adventure on the other side of the state from our closest family and friends.
Fast forward to the Spring of 2017. After two more moves, a couple more career changes and the birth of our daughter, the longing for the familiarity of family and friends became too strong so we decided to end our adventuring and return to Rochester. After informing our elated families the next phone call was an SOS to Harlan. We needed a home for our family and we weren't exactly sure about what we needed or where we were going.
After finding employment in Wayne County we needed to learn about the communities and Harlan was there for us. He was patient and knowledgeable as we made decisions, changed our minds, made frantic calls to see new listings and worked out detail after detail. He offered trusted advice and was instrumental in guiding us through buying process.
As the story of our lives continues to write itself, Harlan Furbush bookended the chapters that saw the births of our children, multiple moves across the state and finally the satisfaction of settling into a home that undoubtedly will bring years of happiness. Words cannot fully embody the effect Harlan has had on our life and we will be forever thankful.
