I have been a Loan officer since 2003 and came to work for HomeStreet Bank in 2011. My favorite part of the job is getting to know new people and being able to help them through the process of getting a home loan.

My niche in Real Estate over the past 30 years has always been manufactured housing. Before becoming a loan officer, I worked for a company selling manufactured homes in parks and helping home buyers with the financing options. This was my introduction into being a loan officer.

The great thing about working for HomeStreet Bank are the tools & programs they make available to their loan officers. I feel very fortunate to be surrounded at work by top producing loan officers. The team atmosphere of our company is incredible. I cannot tell you how many times underwriters, funders, managers, and others from different departments all the way up to top management have got involved to help figure out how to solve situations that come up on occasion.

The thing I strive for the most is for the people I get to work with to be able to look back and say I am glad I got to work with Ron. He was always honest with us and available to help with any of our questions even if the answer was something we did not want to hear.

During the months of June and July, we were referred to HomeStreet Bank. The loan officer that worked with us, and helped us navigate the home loan process, was Ron Hopkins. We could not have asked for a more helpful, Informative, and organized person to help us through the process of financing the purchase of our new home. Ron was the best part of our home buying experience. We changed real estate agents once but refused to let go of Ron. He was so knowledgeable, it being our first time buying he took the time to education us of the pros and cons of every decision along the way. Ron was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was recommended to us. We were both very impressed with how he pushed our close and got everything submitted and going smoothly. When buying a home it is nerve racking to get in all of your information on time and Ron made everything 100 times less stressful. He requested the information needed from us and answered all questions we had in regards to any requests. Ron was always available when you needed him by phone and email. We were given his contact info by the first selling agent we spoke with. We should have shopped around for another loan agent though. Biggest things, length of time between communicating, especially late game where dates and times are critical, and our home appraisal wasn't ordered in a timely fashion so our interest rate locked in at a whole percent higher than it should have. We also almost lost our loan and house because of $71. Everything was fine, number wise, before the rate was locked, but once that got locked, come to find out our debt to income was now off.... Wonder why? Had to pay off $5500 car loan to fix the $71 difference... Could have lost the deal, according to him, over that seventy bucks. First house buying experience, and last one with Ron. Homestreet is good, from what I hear, we just weren't pleased with our agent. Should have shopped around.

Ron was recommended to me as being one of the best loan officers. From the first time I spoke with him on the phone I felt that I can trust him as my lender and advisor since he was not only very knowledgeable and very professional, but he was also very detail oriented and caring about my financial health as a buyer. I was truly impressed by him being available at all times, just a phone call away. Even when at one point of time I decided that I’m going to build instead of buying and my status changed, and his bank couldn’t work with me anymore, Ron was still willing to help, advise and teach me how to maneuver throughout the complicated process of becoming a homeowner. At that point he had nothing to gain, and regardless of not being his client anymore, he still spent hours on the phone with me analyzing the numbers and pointing out important things I had to pay attention to. I deeply appreciated his unconditional help and all the wealth of knowledge he shared with me! Needless to say, I chose to continue with him as my lender when later on I had to rethink building as the times changed and all the prices went crazy with the sudden rise in gas prices because of the Ukrainian war. Once I found the perfect home for my kids and I, the process of buying it was simple and fast, Ron and his office were very efficient in closing the transaction in a a very advantageous manner for me.
For all the above mentioned reasons I would recommend Ron as a lender to anyone .
