Our solar system was installed in October 2011 and everything that Zabia and Solar City outlined was completed on time and as outlined. So far we are very please with the solar array and the savings we are seeing. Zabia was very clear in presenting the benefits of solar and the options availalble to us. She was also very thorough in follow up after we decided to go with Solar City. We would highly recommend Zabia and Solar City.

Zabia is awesome!! She is a consultant/advisor, not a salesperson. She was very patient, answered all my questions truthfully and prepared many, many "estimates" to help me make the right decision for my solar panels and the best way to finance them.
The results are fantastic!! Since the install was completed late last summer, our bills have been negative numbers. So Cal Edison owes us money. I suspect our current credit will be used up when we hit the peak air conditioning months.
We decided on a prepaid 20 year lease. We paid it off with our line of credit. We will have the credit line paid off in about 6 years from the money we would have paid for electricity.
Then we will have free electricity for the next 14 years and maybe more. It feels great to be energy self suffecient--on the electricity grid. Now, if I just ride my bike more...

It has been a while since I worked with Zabia but this is my recollection of our interactions before, during and after my installation of solar panels. She was always very nice to me on the phone, if she didn't have an answer, she told me she would get it and did so promptly. She was very informative about the process or directed me to someone that could help me. It was a pleasure to have her walk me thru the process and I would welcome her assistance any time.

I highly recommend Solar City. Very professional and they deliver as promised. I decided on the leased system as it was the best option for me. Solar City continually monitors the performance and operation of the system so I do not have to worry if there is a problem. In the few short months the system has been in operation Solar City has contacted me three times to check something or have sent someone to my home to make an adjustment. I have recommended Solar City to others and have no worries that my reputation would suffer based on that recommendation. You cannot go wrong with Solar City.

Given the cost of electricity in Hawaii and given that it’s going to grow, the idea of having a photovoltaic system installed made sense. But selecting the right company wasn’t easy. After reviewing newspaper advertising, newspaper feature stories, talking with friends and lots of time in the Internet I selected six companies.
With minimal research I eliminated two companies. That “research” consisted of calling a company, seeing how they spoke to me on the phone and how quickly they returned my call. Four companies were still on my list. It was time for face-to-face meetings.
The four companies fell into two distinct groups, two companies in each. Group one was represented by nicely dressed representatives who turned off their cell phones and either answered my questions directly or acknowledged that they did not know the answer and would get back to me. That was the case for both of the two “finalist” companies.
Group 2 had similarities, as well; checking their cell phones, wearing denims and being a bit more aggressive than I care for (including negative selling). I am a sales professional. Over the years, I have served as the president of Sales and Marketing Executives International of Honolulu and was a former board member of the Hawaii Chapter of the American Marketing Association. My first job out of college was sales. Prior to founding my own sales and marketing consulting business I spent twenty years as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing in the beverage industry.
Now, I was down to two companies: SolarCity and Company “B”. Both companies provided similar pricing, presented similar benefits, and offered high quality components (insofar as a layman could determine). However, a difference, in favor of SolarCity, arose when my questions changed from an outright purchase to a lease program (which it what was ultimately selected). Zabia handled the lease questions with aplomb and helped me make my choice. That is, she my decision-making as opposed to pushing me in one direction or another. That was not the case with Company “B”. Although credible, the lease program was not presented as clearly, and the representative seemed to favor purchase over lease.
Nonetheless, it was a very difficult decision. Calling Company “B” was difficult for me. I dreaded it. But, I did; decision was made and the papers were signed.
Once the decision was made I was indulged with professionalism to the “Nth” degree. Initially, there were design consultations, followed by setting appointments for site review, and numerous other actions. Along the way, Zabia was my faithful “go to” person for “What does that mean”, “When will this happen”, “What’s next” and on and on.
The day finally arrived for the install! After 2-3 days rainy weather brought the installation to a standstill, but I was frequently updated on their progress, either by email or telephone. And the workers! They were polite and readily answered my questions… and I had lots of them.
As well, the crew practiced safety measures as I have never seen before. They took no short cuts. They worked safely: Harnesses, barriers, ladders secured and on and on. At the end of each day they updated me on their progress and left the work and surrounding areas neat and clean.
Finally, the day arrived to test the system. Seeing my electric meter go backwards was an amazing site. Amazing!
Currently (no pun intended), I’m waiting impatiently for the City Inspector to provide a stamp of approval. Then, I envision air conditioning for 24/7; unlimited hot water; hours and hours of television; unlimited computer time, etc. Not really. I will not be an energy hog. But I will enjoy a minimalist electric bill.
In conclusion, I heartily recommend SolarCity. If you are considering a photovoltaic system for your home, you’d be wrong not to consider SolarCity. They are a highly trained, customer friendly organization.

She did an excellent job of explaning the differen options and information to me. We comminuted several times before I decided what type system I wanted. She was very patient with me and explained everything very clearly.

We had our solar panels installed about 6 mos ago. The process with solar city was excellent from beginning to end. They kept us appraised of everything along the way, and the results have met our expectations. I've also enjoyed being able to track performance of the panels real-time, which have also met expectations. I would (and have) recommended them to others.
