I highly recommend Terry Barbery as he has guided me through 2 home transactions in Incline Village/Lake Tahoe- the sale of a single family home and the purchase of a lakefront townhome at Crystal Shores Villas. In short, my experience with Terry is that he is trustworthy and hardworking including taking my calls in the evenings.
He took a personal interest in preparing and maintaining the property for showings, kept the contract process moving, and; importantly, initially prepared his market research to counsel on a realistic valuation (versus overly optimistic hyperbole to win the listing). I also appreciated his fair demeanor when working with other agents as we dealt with several relatively ignorant or lazy agents when either looking at properties or negotiating. Also, he supported that we walk away from a counter offer that was unrealistic and which 30 days later resulted in the seller re-connecting with us regarding my initial offer.
A unique quality that few, if any Realtors have, is Terry's construction knowledge and experience. His past includes overseeing projects, owning rental homes and a property management company. He advised me on some remodeling that improved my home in Incline but cautioned me against those costs that I would not recoup when I sold the house.
When I bought the Crystal Shores townhouse last year, it was in the original 1968 condition. Terry was instrumental in advising me on enhancing the space by moving the kitchen, rearranging the bathrooms, opening the ceiling, adding lighting, adding gas plumbing in anticipation that our complex would convert to gas from electricity, and so on. He was able to recommend subcontractors and suppliers, I believe he saved me tens of thousands of dollars with his guidance; as well as his counsel to remain patient with sub-contractors (whose dependability is not a virtue).
