My wife and I are elated to be writing this testimonial from the comfort of our perfect first home, and we can’t thank Eliot enough for that.
In May 2016 we were looking at open houses just to dream of a home we might one day have if we moved out of our “cozy” apartment. We weren’t sure when, or if, we would have a house to call our own. We dreamed of having some more space, a yard, sharing a fence instead of sharing all our walls, but in months of looking on and off again no house felt quite right and we were scared we couldn’t make it work even if we found the perfect fit. The realtors showing these houses were all too ready to talk us into how it would be perfect for us or sign us up for their mailing lists, but having to fend off their aggressive sales made us feel even less motivated to buy.
One spring afternoon as we were walking around Willow Glen we happened upon an open house with a modest looking exterior but an enormous modern interior and a $2.6 million price point to match. While gawking at the size of the thing we were lucky enough to meet Eliot and Craig who were showing the house. The conversation was light, fun, easy, and they quickly talked us into describing our ideal house in a way we hadn’t even understood ourselves. A far cry from the Realtors we had known to be pushy, too friendly, or intimidating, Eliot stood out as kind, genuine, and helpful. We happily agreed to stay in touch let him send us more open house notices which were closer to our dream house, even if we weren’t ready to buy.
A couple weekends went by, we received a handful of listings from Eliot that we close to what we wanted and within our budget, but we were still happy to just look and dream. What happened next we wouldn’t have believed if we didn’t experience it ourselves. A new house came onto the market we Eliot directed us to the first open house. It was cute in the pictures, within our budget and had the yard and features we wanted, but we thought there was no way it lived up to the listing. As my wife and I walked up to the house, we stood at the threshold to the front door, looked at each other, and in a stunned excited way simultaneously exclaimed “we could live here!”
We called Eliot and the lender he recommended as we walked back to the car. This wasn’t something we planned for, the timeline we’d been telling everyone was months and years, not weeks, but we told Eliot that we want this house and he told us that we would make it happen. The house was listed on Friday, shown on Saturday, and we brought our family by on Sunday. Tuesday we had an offer to the sellers and by that Friday we were in escrow.
It’s not worth going over the boring details, but for all the questions and concerns we had, problems we faced, Eliot was there with an answer and a fix. He was generous with his time and experience making sure we were comfortable and helping us to make informed decisions throughout the whole process. And even once we closed, he was there to make sure everything was right, and when we were hit with unexpected bumps moving in he was there with advice, professional help, and an unfailingly positive attitude.
Eliot is a remarkable mix of smart, funny, efficient, professional and helpful above and beyond what we expected. We can’t say buying a house is an easy task, but you want someone you can trust to get you through all the hoops. Of the dozens of realtors we talked with in open houses all over San Jose, Eliot is who we trusted with our future and can unconditionally recommend.
Happy House Hunting!
