When my Mother decided to sell her home of 31 years, there was a lot to do. One of those tasks was to hire a Realtor. Being an active Realtor myself, I flew down from Massachusetts in March of 2023 to help her with that process. We interviewed three Realtors. All were highly qualified with a lot of local experience. The final decision was my Mother’s and while all three were impressive there was only one who we both felt would truly meet her needs as an elderly down-sizing widow.

Janet came to the meeting prepared and made a warm, instant connection with both of us. She was the last Realtor we interviewed and my Mother had been leaning strongly towards someone we had already spoken to prior to Janet’s arrival. Janet didn’t know it, but she was going to need to really impress and she did. She brought expert local market knowledge and was very flexible in setting up a plan to help my Mother get her home to market.

I remember Janet stating, and I’m paraphrasing, that she takes the time to get to know and work intimately with her clients. That gave comfort to both me and my Mother. We knew that we had someone on our “team” who would help in any and every way she possibly could. And she did. Never once did she disappoint and trust me, there was A LOT to do to get that house ready.

She had local vendors lined up who could assist with the decluttering process and cleaners who made the home shine. When open house weekend arrived, we had many parties come through the home and had multiple offers all above the list price to consider.

Janet was also able to negotiate a free lease-back period with the buyer so that Mom could stay in the home and take the time to find her new home.

My wife and I first met Janet when we were looking to purchase a condo. She went above and beyond in helping me close on my condo. I was moving from another state so 2 years ago I just started browsing the real estate markets for locations and pricing on what was available. When I knew I was getting closer to move time my Email and phone number was picked up by Janet Nowlin. She was the most Responsive person I've ever met 'over the phone'! I was coming to Virginia with no family or friends here because the location and cost of living seemed to be a fit for me. Every couple of months Janet would check on me and my progress. I made plans to move then Covid hit us with a 3 month lock down so I decided to push the move out. Janet kept in touch the whole time. She was able to find affordable temporary housing for me until we could find a place. The affordable part of this was not easy which I didn't realize until later. She set me up with a fabulous mortgage company. I even had emergency surgery which delayed us! Janet stayed in touch the whole time always offering to help me. When I found 'the place' she is so well connected in the community, that I felt confident to proceed in buying the property with all of the future work it needed and the negotiation of the proper price. She developed such a partnership with me that she actually stayed with me on move in day giving up her time so I wasn't alone, as I had 2 trucks of stuff to deal with. Janet was absolutely GREAT to work with. She is patient and understanding of clients wants and needs and can be counted on to act in their best interests. She found the perfect home for me after a long house hunting process with many changing factors. After we got a contract, when things did not go exactly as planned from other parties, she sprang into action working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the transaction got back on track and closed as scheduled.
