Our move back to the United States came with many different ups and downs, but luckily, in regards to buying our new home, Tom made it easy. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped us secure our first choice home. Not being from the area, Tom also helped connect us with local businesses for our lawn care, shopping, and fence. He was patient with all of our questions and made sure we felt confident every step of the way, even from a distance while we were still overseas. Working with Tom made my buying experience much easier. I was moving from another state and I did not want to make multiple visits to Maine to review properties. After an initial visit to Maine and viewing a few properties, he had a quick grasp of what I was "really looking for." He sent me all the listings in the area that met my criteria and was able to weed out ones that weren't worth a visit.
I especially appreciated his rich and detailed knowledge of the history of the area.which is so important when you're moving to a new area.

Tom was fantastic as a realtor and as a guide in our house purchasing journey. We went through the initial purchase process on several houses that fell through (because of VA funding requirements, not Tom's fault!) before purchasing our new home recently, and Tom was with us every step of the way. Tom was an amazing source of information and guidance, while making it clear all decisions were ours. I am the "former" owner of what was Maine's Oldest Family Grocery Store (1891 - 2024), 133 years old. 3 generations made this one go. I'm now 79, my wife is 71. My first realtor left a lot on the table for my wife to complete; even though rated one of the best in the Bangor area. We did not renew the contract with him. With the help of one of our clerks, we found Tom Cole, Better Homes Real Estate. Tom agreed to be our next realtor. He now owns his own franchise; NextHome Realty in Brunswick, Maine. I'm sure it will be a big success in the future, as he was constantly in touch with Karen and I on the sale of C.H. Mathews. Rural businesses are very hard to sell in today's world.
